Blogs are a great way to create passive income in your life if you know how to set it up properly. I will go through the process of creating a blog for free in this post and then after that, we will talk about how to make money from it.

What is a Blog?

A blog is simply a collection of posts that have words in them. These words can range from 300 to 5000 words in a single post. What do these words form? Well, it simply entertains people or educates people or both. You could have a blog post on 'How to deal with heartache' which educates people or you could have a post about 'Kardashian showcases her stellar figure' which people would typically just read to be entertained. You also do not have to research something through and through, you can use blogs to share your opinions, advice or tips on things you have learned yourself but please do not spread false information. There are two sites you can create a blog for free the first one is Blogger and the second one is WordPress. I recommend if you are a beginner to all of this then you should stick to Blogger. Once you sign up and create your blog you need to decide what it is that you want to do. What I mean by this is that you need to decide what exactly it is that you want to talk about. It could be about flowers, clouds or even birds. Whatever you chose to talk about make sure to stick to it and please do not deviate from it. 

Visuals

Up next is visuals, please make sure your blog looks nice. Now I know there are some amazing websites out there that are not only functional but aesthetically pleasing. Please do not compare yourself to these sites. I do not advise that you do this because it is going to end up putting you down. I need you to focus on what you have in front of you and then simply ask yourself how can I improve on this further. When you have the answer then implement it, if you do not have the answer then google and find inspiration from other people who build sites. Please note when I say build sites I do not mean coding I simply mean rearranging components that you are already given. 

Crucial Pages

Okay so now that your site looks visually appealing we need to work on the next thing and that is crucial pages which you need in order to be seen on search engines. You can further research this but basically, I will tell you what you need here and then you can look into it further. 

Privacy Policy

You will need a privacy policy page. This is important because many users care about how their data is used on the internet and there are a lot of laws in place to protect people's rights so please include a privacy policy in your blog. You can check out our privacy policy here. How do I get a privacy policy? Simply just search for a privacy policy generator for a blog and you should get something. Once it is generated, create a privacy policy page and paste the content inside it. Make sure you format your Privacy Policy with spacings as this will improve readability.

Terms and Conditions

Next, you are going to need a Terms and Conditions page. This is again in line with people's privacy but with this, you are basically informing readers of the terms of your service and they need to meet these conditions otherwise just do not visit your site. It is important to have because it will help protect you in the future.

This is even more important than the previous page. You need to create a good impression on your viewers so please spend time with this page. Tell them all about you and why it is that you are creating this blog. Tell them about the value you are going to provide them with. If you have any qualifications or anything like that then please include them here. It's important that you do this, in fact, I want you to treat this as a CV. So, give it everything you have.

How do I make money from my Blog?

Affiliate Marketing

Depending on when you are reading this. You could always go to the home page and check this out. I basically have an amazon banner of useful books. Whenever someone clicks on the link and buys a book, I get a commission from this. That is in essence what affiliate marketing is. I show links to your product on my website and if someone buys it then I get a cut from it. You can even write an entire article about your favourite products and provide the affiliate link to them.

Adsense

Now I put Adsense here but you can actually make money with any other ad network too I recommend Adsense because even though it is difficult to get into it is still worth it since they pay well and having your site AdSense approved would lead to more traffic due to your site showing quality ads and nothing shady. Simply check out the AdSense eligibility article for more details and make sure your site complies and then request approval.
